
Freiburger, Joseph R.
Joseph R. Freiburger, age85 of Fremont, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans in Grand Rapids. Joseph was born on May 11, 1922 in Grand Rapids to Joseph Anthony and Olive (Boonstra) Freiburger and later married Virginia Bush on June 10, 1945 in Allegan. Virginia preceded him in death on December 3, 1994. Joseph had been a machinist for many years and served in the United States Army during World War II where he received the Silver Star for gallantry in action in the jungles of Japanese controlled New Guinea.. Joseph was also a former member of the Fremont Moose Lodge #1555.
Joseph is survived by his brother, Donald Freiburger of Grand Rapids; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Following his wishes, cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 11am at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel with Rev. Father Mike Alber of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church presiding. A time of visitation will be held from 10:30am until the time of the services. Joseph will be place next to his wife, Virginia at Mt.
