Gastfield, Barbara V.
Barbara V. Gastfield, age 90 of Fremont, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Barbara was born on May 23, 1917 in Denver Township to Andrew J. and Julia V. (Townsend) Bird and attended Aetna Country School. She later married Charles L. “Charlie” Gastfield, on October 30, 1937 in Michigan City, Indiana. Charlie preceded her in death on November 13, 2006. She had been a homemaker and worked on the family farm for many years and was a member of the Hesperia United Methodist Church. She had been active in the agricultural community for many years and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Julia Ann (Gary) Bowerman of Warrensburg, Missouri; son, C. Wayne Gastfield of Fremont; 5 grandchildren, Kellee (Mike) Seif of Orlando; Kristi Bowerman of Rolla, Missouri; Stacey Bowerman of Lexington, Kentucky; Tammy (Lon) Christoffersen of Fremont; Lori Burton of Detroit; 8 great grandchildren, Benjamin Seif of Orlando, Casey Christoffersen of Grand Rapids, Kaite Christoffersen of Grand Rapids, Karly Christoffersen of Fremont, Cody Christoffersen of Fremont, Sarah Burton of Detroit, Michael Burton Jr. of Detroit, Nancy Lee Burton of Detroit; 1 great great grand daughter, Alayna Longe of Detroit; her sister, Alma McGahan of Hesperia; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Bernice Pletcher; her brothers, Amos Cottrell and Robert Snyder.
VISITATION : Friday 5-8pm at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel & Saturday 10-11 am at the Aetna Calvary Church. FUNERAL SERVICES : Saturday at 11am at the Aetna Calvary Church. INTERMENT : East Hesperia Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: Newaygo Medical Care Facility.
