King, Ralph V.

 

Ralph V. King, age 76 of Fremont, passed away Sunday, February 7, 1999 at his home .  He was born on January 22, 1923 in Marion, Indiana to Ralph & Mary (Hixom) King and married Marie Schramm August 29, 1942.  He moved to Hart from Marion, Indiana as a small child and later moved to Fremont in 1948.  He owned and operated the Fremont Bakery from 1948-1966 and also Chuck and Ralph’s Tavern from 1964-1978.  He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #1555 and the Fremont VFW, Post #6898.  He was an outstanding bowler and golfer in his younger years and also loved to camp, fish & hunt with his family and friends.  He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United State Navy as a Baker 2nd Class.

 

Surviving is his wife, Marie of Fremont; two sons, Randy (Sally) King of Gustavus, Alaska; Terry King of Greenville; stepmother, Gladys King of Shelby; five grandchildren, Mackenzie, Dylan, & Skylar King of Gustavus, Alaska; Jackson & Casey King of Greenville; brother, Ted King of Hart; two sisters, Geraldine McCullough of Battle Creek; Ruth Hopkins of Fremont; two step grandchildren; three great stepchildren; stepbrother, Nick (Dottie) Elliott of Shelby; two stepsisters, Barb Schuyler of Shelby; Beverly (D) Raymond of Hart; many aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins & special friends.

 

Funeral memorial services will be held on Friday, February 19, 1999 at 1:00pm from the Crandell Funeral Home Chapel in Fremont with the Fremont Moose Lodge #1555 and Mr. William Walsworth presiding with interment in the Hart Cemetery.  Military rites to be given by the Fremont VFW, Post #6898 and the Newaygo VFW Post #4249.  Friends are asked to consider the Fremont Area Foundation for Hospice of Newaygo County, Continu-Care or Charity of Donor’s Choice.  Envelopes are available at and arrangements by Crandell Funeral Home Inc. in Fremont.
