Redinger, Carl "Chucky Boy"

 

Carl “Chucky Boy” Redinger, age 88 of Newaygo, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont.  Carl was born on January 20, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois to Christ John and Sophia Marie (Groh) Redinger and later married Charlotte Bickel on August 24, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois.  Carl and Charlotte moved to the Newaygo Area in 1952 from Downers Grove, Illinois where Carl had been a builder and worked in the Chicago area building skyscrapers.  After his move to the Newaygo area, Carl continued with his building and carpentry skills as a self employed builder for many years.  Carl was a jack of all trades and master of most trades.  Carl served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Seabee’s and was a member of the Newaygo V.F.W. Sportsman’s Post #4249.  He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in White Cloud and was the former president of the Newaygo Lion’s Club. 

 

Carl is survived by his wife of 67 years, Charlotte of Newaygo; his son, Karl (LouAnne) Redinger of Newaygo; his grandsons, Karl (Rozelyn) Redinger II of Florida; Kurt Redinger and special friend, Lori of Newaygo; Ryan (Nicole) Redinger of Morley; Reuben Redinger of Grant; several great grandchildren; his sisters, Ruth Bumstead of Newaygo; Marion O’Neil of Newaygo; many nieces and nephew.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Christ and Sophia Redinger and by his 10 brothers and sisters.

 

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 2pm at the Christ Lutheran Church in White Cloud.  Friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday from 1-2 and share refreshments with the family after the services at the church.  Interment will take place in Croton Township Cemetery.  Friends may send a condolence or share a memory with the Redinger family online at www.crandellfh.com
