share memories of Eleanor Smithy's Life with family and friends. Saturday,
June 14, 2008 at 1pm at the Lincoln Township Cemetery with a time of fellowship

Eleanor L. Smithy, age
66 of Brohman and formerly of Sand Creek, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, October
23, 2007 at her home following a long illness. Eleanor was born on June 27,
1941 in Flat Rock Michigan to William and Mary Crenshaw and later married Owen
Smithy on November 10, 1961 in Flat Rock, Michigan. Together, Eleanor and Owen moved to the Brohman area from Sand Creek,
Michigan in 2004. Eleanor enjoyed crafts, reading and cooking and had been the
book keeper for her and Owen’s construction business until her retirement.
Eleanor is survived by her
husband, Owen of Brohman; her daughter, Tina L. Smithy of Kalamazoo; her
brother, Larry (Betty) Crenshaw of Milan, Michigan; her sisters, Mary (Dennis)
Dunningan of Trenton, Michigan; Sandy (David) Young of Battle Creek; Bessie
(Gerry) Gerst of Plymouth, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her sister,
Dorothy Strait in 2005; by 1 brother and
2 other sisters.
Memorial services will be
held on Sunday, October 28, 2007 at 2pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – White
Cloud Chapel with interment in the Lincoln Township Cemetery. Friends may
consider the Eleanor L. Smithy Family to assist with funeral expenses for
memorial contributions in memory of Eleanor. Friends may also send a condolence

To the husband and family of
Ellie. I'm sure as you and I look up at the clear sky this evening, a new
star will be visible. A Heavenly being, returning home to do God's will, yet
keeping that one eye always on her beloved one. Yes, that bright light will
shine forever more as Ellie. As a short time on-line friend of " Easy " , the
heart felt caring by so many every time you were around was very evident.

I love Eleanor a great deal
and have been blessed to have known her most of my life. I will miss her
and will always remember her laughter, her good food, but mostly how much
she cared for her loved ones. I'm glad she became my sister's mom and that
I was always welcome to come to their home. I am praying for Owen and my
sister, Tina; also for the rest of the family and friends who have been
loving them for years. Eleanor - great example of someone who could love
you no matter what your faults. Great example of strength and loyalty.
Just an awesome woman.

My older sister Peggy and I used to stay the weekend
with Uncle Jr and Eleanor when they lived in Battle
Creek. We had some good times and I remember when they
took us to the Kellogg's cereal factory. Eleanor will

When I was a little girl, my
time with Aunt Eleanor was priceless! I have wonderful memories of playing
with her and picking on Uncle Owen.
It means the world to me that Aunt Eleanor took
the time to get to know our children. They love Aunt Eleanor so much and were
loved in return by her. (And Uncle Owen TOO)
We are going to miss her more than I can express!

There are no words to describe the loss that Owen and our
entire family has suffered with the loss of another wonderful person. Aunt
Ellie & Uncle Punkin were always there with a smile and a cup of coffee for
me whenever I would go to visit, and always had lots of love and hugs and
kisses for my children. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives
were touched by her.
Owen - always remember that we love you and are here for

Uncle Owen,
I can't put into words how
sorry I am for your loss. I hope you know that we will all miss her dearly,
and that we are here for you if you need us. Aunt Ellie was a great Lady, and
it fills my heart with sorrow knowing that I won't see her beautiful smile any
more. The only consolation that we have is that she isn't in pain any more.
I bet that Aunt Ellie, Aunt Judy, and Mom are all together in heaven
scrapbooking right now! At least that is what I hope. I know that life will
go on, but it won't be easy, so when you need us, don't forget you still have
family, and we love you.

Eleanor was such a kind, sweet and gentle
woman. She had a beautiful smile, always a kind word and she knew that God
loved her with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3). She was Owen's soulmate
and they cared deeply for each other. Owen kept the marriage vows to the
fullest in his devotion to Eleanor during her illness, right down to humming
bird feeders outside her window. Her memory will always be treasured in her
family's hearts. Owen, God be with you in your sorrow and give you the
peace that only He, HIs Son and Holy Spirit can give.

Dear
sweet Eleanor you will be very missed. Your suffering has ceased and you are
now in your heavenly home surrounded by all the loved ones that have passed
before. You are comforted. You were our family historian and "story teller".
Your tireless research that you shared with us, has helped us all know our

Anyone who knew Aunt Ellie, knew that
she was a kind hearted and loving person. She influenced my life from and
early age, and will live forever in my heart. Except for my mom, no other
woman has had such an impact on who I grew to become.
Uncle Punkin, we will all miss her. Your pain is shared by
those of us who love her. And yes I am grateful in knowing that her pain is
behind her. Heaven is a better place as she is there, and she is in very good

Hope you are feeling better mentally & physically.
Here are some thoughts about Eleanor:
I remember Eleanor when I was about ten or so. She was
always friendly to me, unlike some of the other older
cousins.
My first wife and I remember the times Owen & Eleanor
opened their house in battle Creek to us. We always
felt real grown up visiting with these older
relatives. They treated us like royalty. One time
Eleanor took Glenda and I to the bowling alley she
managed and gave us bowling lessons. We bowled for the
longest time.
Anyway, she was always firstmost when someone needed
help. Her heart was as big as Aunt Cleos, whom she
probably is conversing with right now. I always
admired her intelligence, personality & family
loyalty. Some of our best memories are the family
reunions she & Owen hosted in Sand Creek. Those were
the times! Now these times, like many people, are
sadly gone forever.

When I was young, Aunt Ellie made an
unforgetable impact in my life, in more ways than most could imagine. Except
for my own mother, no other woman has influenced who I have become more than
her. There is yet another hole in my heart with the loss of Aunt Ellie.
Uncle Punkin, know that we love you and our hearts break
for your loss, and ours. Ellie was of the kindest that God blessed us with.
Heaven is a better place with her in it, and she is in very good company. Her
pain is over, and for that we can be happy for her.
She will be missed, but live forever in our hearts and
memories.
