VanderPloeg, Rebecca "Becki" L.

 

Rebecca “Becki” L. VanderPloeg, age 15 of White Cloud, passed away unexpectedly on Monday at her home.  Becki was born on December 5, 1991 in Grand Rapids to David and Catherine (Brownell) VanderPloeg Sr. and was a sophomore at White Cloud High School where she had been active sports.  Becki was very active in and served as an officer in the U.S. Navy Junior ROTC Program at White Cloud High School where she was the recipient of various awards for leadership and academics.  Becki enjoyed fishing, hunting, skateboarding and she was also the State of Michigan recipient of the Sons of the American Revolution award in 2007.

 

Becki is survived by her parents, David and Catherine VanderPloeg Sr. of White Cloud; sister, Susan VanderPloeg of Fremont; brother, David VanderPloeg Jr. of Grand Rapids; stepbrother, Ronald Witham of Fremont; maternal grandparents, Larry & Gaylene Brownell of Walker; great grandmother, Marian DeHaan of Jenison; her uncles, James (Jan) VanderPloeg of Wyoming; Gerald (Carolyn) Brownell of Gobles; her aunts, Cheryl Brownell of Farmington Hills; Lori (Larry) Wenglikowski of Grand Rapids; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; special friend, Allen Kenyon.

 

VISITATION : Thursday 6-8 and Friday 2-4 & 6-8 at Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel.  FUNERAL SERVICES : Saturday at 11am at the White Cloud High School.  INTERMENT : Plainfield Township Cemetery.  MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : In lieu of flowers, friends may consider the Becki L. VanderPloeg Memorial Fund to assist with expenses, C/O Crandell Funeral Home.

My thoughts are with your family at this time. I was Becky's bus driver for quite a few years  she was always sweet, quiet and very well liked on the bus and I will miss her very much again my greatest sympathies are with all of you at this time.

I haven’t lived in White Cloud for almost 5 years now and you are one family I will never forget. Becky as well as the rest of your family have always held an extremely special place in my heart. I will never forget when I was honored enough to baby sit Becky and ride horses with her. I wish you comfort and peace at this time and hard times to come. If you need anything you can always reach me.  You are in my heart!!

Honey i will miss you for the rest of my life and I don't understand what happend but i trust in the fact that you did what you felt you had to . Our girls played together so often in the summers
years ago.  It was nothing to see Becky come in the
yard on her horse or her bike just to visit. She
always had a smile on her face and so many questions
about all the animals. Becky will be missed by a
everyone who knew her, but she will never be forgotten
by the ones that she has touched during her lifetime.

Its been quite a while since i spoke to you, however, I heard the awful news and I wanted to wish you my condolences. I am so sorry for your loss I cant imagine what you are going through.  A child of 15, is just beginning to figure out what she wants in life.  It is unfair that she be taken away before her time. Try to take gentle care of yourself, and take each day as it comes. wishing you huge tight hugs.
