Ward, Michael H.

 

Michael Hugh Ward, age 58 of Fremont, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2007 at his home.  Michael was born on December 29, 1948 in Rockford, Illinois to Francis Hugh and Marian R. (Reiman) Ward.  Michael has been a resident of the Fremont area for the past 25 years, starting with summers and weekends spent at his home on Long Lake and then a full time resident for the past 7 years when he moved from Naperville, Illinois.  Michael graduated from the Michigan State University with a degree in Economics and owned and operated the Ward Agency in Naperville where he specialized in advertising specialties.  He served in Army National Guard and attended the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fremont.  Michael took great pleasure in living on Long Lake where he enjoyed family and friends, water skiing, swimming, and boat parades on the lake.

 

Michael is survived by his mother, Marian R. Schulte of Fremont; his children, Andrea Ward of Guilford, Connecticut; Michelle (John) Black of Trumbull, Connecticut; Nicole Ward of Denver, Colorado; Michael J. Ward of Downers Grove, Illinois; 2 grandsons, Marcus and Jorden Black; his sister, Anne (Robert) VandeKieft of Fremont; his brother, Tom (Pam) Ward of Raleigh, North Carolina; nieces and nephews; Fred, Sarah and Liz Patterson and Dustin and Jenna Ward.  He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Hugh Ward.    

 

Visitation will be on Friday, September 14, 2007 from 11am to 12pm with memorial services on Friday, September 14, 2007 at 12pm at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fremont with Rev. Ray Dekker presiding with interment in the Sherman Township Cemetery.  Friends may consider the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ or Hospice of Michigan for memorial contributions in memory of Michael.  Friends may also send a condolence or share a memory online at www.crandellfh.com.    Arrangements by Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel.

I am so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. He was a big part of my memories of growing up in Detroit. He and his brother and sister hold a very special place in my heart. When I think back to those days so long ago a smile comes to my lips. I have always thought of Mike fondly and will continue to do so for all the years to come.

My deepest sympathy to the whole family.   I especially pray for Nicole Ward and Mike Ward who are struggling with the loss of their father.   Also for his mother Marian and his sister Anne who took such loving care of him during his final days in Fremont at the Lake.   I believe in a loving God and know in my heart that Michael is watching over all of us filled with love and peace.   And that's how we shall remember him.
