Zadel, Frederick "Fred" M.

 

Frederick “Fred” M. Zadel, age 81 of Fremont, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2009 at the Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids.  Fred was born on November 30, 1927 in Muskegon to Anton Paul and Nina (Whitsell) Zadel and moved to the Fremont area in 1963 from Muskegon.  Fred had worked as a core maker at the CWC Textron Company in Muskegon for 35 years until his retirement in 1986.  Fred was a Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Croton American Legion, Post #381.  Fred also enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and camping.

 

Fred is survived by his children, Maryl McKee of Muskegon; Debra Cholka of Muskegon; Christopher Zadel of Carrollton, Texas; Pamela (Kelly) Smith of White Cloud; Michelle Zadel of Phoenix, Arizona; his grandchildren, Jason Carrier, Melanie Carrier, Lauretta Zadel, Joel Koons, Stacey Zadel, Stephan Zadel, Amber McKee; his great granddaughter, Marissa Spicer; his sisters, Carol Hunt of Fremont; Susan Lord of Fremont; his brother, Anton “Tony” (Joan) Zadel of Los Gatos, California; Jerry Zadel of Twin Lake; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  Fred was preceded in death by an infant son, Anthony Zadel; his sisters, Sharon Schornagel, Barbara Dempkey, Jeanne Halverson.

 

VISITATION : Wednesday, August 5, 2009 from 6-8pm at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel.  FUNERAL SERVICES : Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 11am at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel.  INTERMENT : Maple Grove Cemetery.  MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Rennuci House at Spectrum Health Services.  Friends may send a condolence or share a memory with the Zadel family online at www.crandellfh.com.

Hey guys,
I'll see you Wednesday, but I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you and feeling your loss.  Fred was an awesome guy and the times I got to spend with him were a lot of fun.   He's going to be missed by a lot of people.   I'll be there to hug you in person.  Call us if you need anything.
