E. John Boltz, age 75 of Hesperia and Fremont, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 16, 2024 at his home. John was born on December 11, 1948 in Fremont to Elmore Frederick and Katie Mae (Hargrove) Boltz and graduated from Fremont High School in 1967. John later joined the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge. John met and later married Diana M. Jachim on July 24, 1986 at the family home and has been a lifelong resident of the area. John started work at Teledyne Continental Motors in 1976 as a machinist and continued work with General Dynamics and retired from L-3 in 2010 as an assembler. John enjoyed playing bluegrass music and played in the Bluegrass Fever Band at festivals and later played in the Beverly and the Hillbillies in the area for many years as well as simply enjoyed sitting down with friends at music sessions. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, the Michigan outdoors, reloading, making homemade blackberry and elderberry wine for friends and family and enjoyed a cup of coffee on the porch with his wife, Diana.
John is survived by his wife, Diana; his brother, Tom Boltz Sr.; several special nieces and nephews; his brother-in-law, Michael M. (Sue) Jachim. John was preceded in death by his parents, Elmore Frederick and Katie Mae Boltz; his sisters, Carrol Boltz and Kay Johnson; his brothers, Gary Boltz, and Fred Boltz.

CELEBRATION OF JOHN’S LIFE : Friday, March 1, 2024 at 12pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel with Military Honors. INTERMENT : East Hesperia Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.
