Linda Ann Hile

Linda Ann Hile, age 89 of Fremont, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Corewell Gerber Memorial Hospital in Fremont.  Linda was born on May 27, 1934, in Fremont to Harvey and Rachel (Knight) Matthews and graduated from Fremont High School in 1951 after moving from the farm to town where she rented a room to attend school her senior year.  Linda met and later married Les Hile on June 20, 1953 in Fremont and Les preceded her in death on October 12, 2010.  Linda has been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area and had worked as telephone operator for Michigan Bell in Fremont, production worker at Westfield Somers and later a homemaker for many years.  Linda was always one to keep her hands busy – whether it was on the farm as a young girl; cooking for her family; remodeling their home; mowing her lawn on the garden tractor; taking care of grandchildren; shopping; going out for meals and many cups of coffee where she would “meet the girls” – her sisters, sisters-in-laws, and cousins.   Linda was a former member of the Holton United Methodist Church.

Linda is survived by her children, Sandra (Dave) Beattie; Larry (Bonnie) Hile; Sherri (Dean) Nieboer; her grandchildren, Jason (Dena) Beattie; Isreal Folkema; Brett (Tricia) Hile; Brian Hile; Michael Hile; her great grandchildren – Alex (Jocelyn) Beattie; Jaegar (Nikkela) Beattie; Braedyn (Haylie) Beattie; her great great granddaughter, Indigo Morales; her brothers and sister, Ella Mae (Dick) Matthews; Les (Lois) Matthews; Cathy (Bob) Moore; several nieces, nephews and cousins.    Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Les; her parents, Harvey and Rachel (Knight) Matthews; her grandson, Seth David Beattie; her granddaughter, Brooke Lindsay Hile; her brother and sister-in-law, Wayne (Ann) Matthews.
